On April 6, 2011 Titus Young returned to his alma mater, University High School, to encourage fellow athletes to “get with the program”–the reading program, that is–it’s all part of the national effort, “Defending Literacy Tour,” co-sponsored by various NFL teams and the seven year-old, locally based, nationally-renowned Stephanie Starks HOPE Foundation (www.sshf.org), which has donated over 3.5 million books to L.A.’s inner city school kids. Titus along with SSHF donated $22,000 dollars in new books to University High School. Titus also donated new cleats and gloves on behalf of Adidas to his old high school football program.
